RIVER FOREST, Ill. — Both of Concordia University Chicago's (CUC) basketball teams continued their seasons this past week. Take a moment to check out what they did as well as what is coming up on the schedule. 

Women's Basketball (2-3, 0-0)

Women's basketball was in action on Thanksgiving Eve, paying a visit to Manchester University on Wednesday. Despite a late push, the Cougars fell 66-59.

Alexis Desjarlait (Red Lake, Minn.) was CUC's leading scorer, dropping a season-high 15 points. Meanwhile, Khaliah Reid (Naperville, Ill.) and Nazuri Whigham (Naperville, Ill.) put in the work defensively, snagging five steals and six rebounds respectively. Reid also scored 14 points; she has now scored double-digit points in three of her first five collegiate games.

CUC has one more non-conference tune-up game on Tuesday, Nov. 28, when they host Principia College at 6 p.m. Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play then begins on Saturday, Dec. 2, with a trip to Dominican University for the next installment of the Division Street Rivalry. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

Men's Basketball (2-3, 1-1)

Jordan Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) started the week by earning NACC Player of the Week. Matthews scored over 20 points in both of the prior week's matchups, including a season-high 29 against Monmouth on Nov. 14. Between the two games, Matthews dished out six assists and grabbed eight rebounds. 

In this past week's play, men's basketball went 1-1 in the start of conference play. First was an 86-80 loss at St. Norbert College on Tuesday night. Jacob Collicott (Lafayette, Ind.) and Emanuel Wilson (Wheaton, Ill.) tied for the team lead in points with 15 each. Meanwhile, Joel Watts (Homewood, Ill.) and Carter Langendorf (Aurora, Ill.) both set career-highs in points with eight and five respectively. 

Then, the Cougars picked up their first conference win Saturday at the Illinois Institute of Technology, taking down the Scarlet Hawks 75-60. Matthews did a bit of everything, leading the game in scoring with 14 points while grabbing four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Collicott and Wilson both reached 12 points, and Collicott added eight rebounds on top of that. Sean Beckman (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) also hit double-digits with a 10-point performance.

The next gameday of men's basketball is Wednesday, Nov. 29, with a home contest against Greenville University at 7 p.m. White Out is the theme for the game. NACC play then resumes on Saturday, Dec. 2, when Wisconsin Lutheran College pays River Forest a visit at 2 p.m.
