RIVER FOREST, ILL. — The Concordia University Chicago teams have been back to business as they start conference play. With a full docket of home games coming up this week, we look back on last week's performances.

Men's soccer started last Monday night at Lake Forest where they fell, 0-3. Michael Frank (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Michael Byron (Park Ridge, Ill.) both had shots on goal in this non-conference matchup. As they moved into Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play this week, they fell in both games against Benedictine and Edgewood. Both of these games resulted in a score of 0-1. Oscar Montejano (Zion, Ill.) and Austin Montejano (Zion, Ill.) had multiple shots on goal in both NACC games. The Cougars will be on the road again this week as they play Aurora on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Women's soccer tied 0-0 in their first game of the week against Benedictine. Julianna Paulsen (Villa Park, Ill.) had the lone shot on goal for the Cougars. Facing Edgewood on Saturday, they lost this match 0-4. Jamie Seibert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) had multiple shots on goal against the Eagles. Coming home this week, they will be out at Cougar Stadium to face Aurora at 4 p.m.

Continuing on the road this week, women's volleyball went 1-1 overall. First at Illinois Institute of Technology, they fell 2-3 in this NACC matchup. Grace Heywood (Northbrook, Ill.) recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 17 digs on the night. Traveling to Lake Forest, they were able to secure the win, 3-1. Julia Beers (Mishawaka, Ind.) had six service aces on the night and Heywood led the offense with 18 kills. Tuesday night, they host their home opener against the Division Street Rivalry opponent, Dominican, at 7 p.m.

After a postponed Thursday game, women's tennis hosted St. Norbert on Sunday morning. They were defeated by the Green Knights in a tight game of 5-4. Heidi Hesse (La Crau, France), Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.), and Alexa Hoover (Fort Wayne, Ind.), all succeeded in their singles matches. Additionally, Parker and Ali Wingood (Chicago, Ill.) were able to secure a doubles win as well. However, it was not enough to stop the Green Knights from taking the victory. Staying home this week, they will host Saint Mary's College on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Men's and women's cross country competed in the Wheaton Gil Dodds Invitational. Callie Hoover (Fort Wayne, Ind.) led the women's side with a 24:59.4 in the 6k. Whereas for the men's side, Ernest Bogart (Pflugerville, TX) led with a 28:50.5 in the 8k. They take a brief break before coming back in action October 1st at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Ending their long string of home games, Cougar football had a loss against Aurora. In this 7-56 loss, Devin Bledsoe (St. Charles, Mo.) had four receptions for a career high of 104 yards. Brandon Arredondo (Dalton, Ga.) led the defense with nine tackles and recovered a blocked punt. Troy Pratley (St. Joseph, Mich.) was able to grab his first touchdown of the season with a 7-yard rush.
