Men's Lacrosse Wraps Up 2022 Season

River Forest, Ill. -- In their season finale under the direction of first year head coach Scott Gwyn, the Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse team closed the season with a loss to the number one team in the conference, Aurora University.

Inside the Box

  • Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) set a new career high on the day with 26 saves in the goal.

  • Zachary Lewandowski (West Dundee, Ill.) led the defensive efforts for the Cougars by causing four turnovers while Zach Cicero (Chicago, Ill.) followed behind causing two.

  • Cicero led the squad in groundballs after picking up three while Sebastian Miller (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Justin Headley (Baltimore, Md.) each scooped up two.

  • Jarred Tabor (Crystal Lake, Ill.) netted the only goal for the Cougars grabbing his 11th of the season.

From the opening faceoff, the Spartans came out with intensity and put the Cougars to work on defense. Borkowski went to work early as well, grabbing his first save 25 seconds into the game.

As the Cougars offense continued to struggle, the Spartans took advantage and climbed to a 21-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Continuing their battle on the offensive end, Tabor went to work and managed to sneak a shot past the goalie to put the Cougars on the board for the only time of the day.

The Cougars ultimately fell 25-1 in their final game of the season. They end the season 0-13 overall and 0-8 in the NACC while graduating two seniors and concluding Gwyn's first year as head coach.
