MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- Taking to the track and field on a cold and windy day in Milwaukee, the Concordia University Chicago women's track and field team competed at the 2022 Warrior Invitational on Thursday afternoon. Despite the rough conditions, multiple Cougars were able to put up personal bests on the day.
Simone Wilson highlighted the meet with a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
Wilson picked up the win with a time of 1:03.91, which was over four seconds better than the next closest runner. Wilson's time from last Saturday at UW-Whitewater still stands as the fifth-fastest in the nation.
Zahra Sammour put together a big performance in the long jump. Her jump of 5.44 meters is the best of her career and was second best at the meet. Her jump on Thursday is the best in the NACC this season.
Angelina Nichols picked up points for CUC at the meet, finishing 3
rd in the 800 with a time of 2:28.34.
Diana Almazan finished right behind Nichols in 4
th with a time of 2:29.87.
Eve Shelton and
Daisia Wilson finished 10
th and 11
th respectively in the 400-meter race with times of 1:08.33 and 1:08.37.
Reigning NACC Field Athlete of the Week
Madeline Bobinski finished 5
th in the discus with a mark of 38.86 meters.
Gabrielle Harding had a personal best in the hammer with a throw of 38.40 meters.
The Cougars will return to action on Saturday, April 23
