Lechuga, Headley Score In Loss to Northland

RIVER FOREST, Ill. --- Looking for their first win of the 2022 season, the Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse team took to the Concordia Stadium turf on Saturday afternoon against the Northland College Jacks. The Cougars held the Jacks to just two goals in the first quarter, but could not pick up more momentum in the game, falling by a final score of 15-2.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Andrew Lechuga and Justin Headley both netted the first goals of their careers in the game.
- Zach Cicero and Frank Dougherty each recorded an assist.
- Sean Dooley won four faceoffs.
- Sebastian Miller made 19 saves in his first appearance between the pipes.

The Cougar defense was strong in the first quarter. The Jacks netted their first goal of the game just under four minutes in on an Anden Stroik man-up goal. Northland then made it 2-0 with just a minute left in the quarter. The Jacks continued their run in the second quarter, building their lead out to 9-0.

CUC got themselves on the board just under a minute before halftime. Dougherty found a cutting Lechuga for the goal, the first of his career. Concordia pulled another goal closer to open the second half. Cicero passed the ball ahead to Headley for his first goal in the maroon and gold.

The Headley goal would be the last of the offense for CUC on the day, as Northland would add on a few insurance goals to down CUC 15-2.

The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when Carroll University comes to River Forest. Opening faceoff is set for 1:00 pm. You can find links to coverage at cucougars.com/coverage.
