Cougar Men Take on Firebird Opener

Kenosha, Wis. – As the indoor season hits its stride, the Concordia University Chicago men's track and field team headed north of the border to take part in the Firebird Opener at Carthage College.

Sophomore Jacob Czubernat (Hillside, Ill.) had perhaps the best performance of the day, placing third in the 400 meter finals with a time of 55.62.

Also finishing third was junior pole vaulter Jaylen Glass, who had a mark of 3.65 meters.

Maximilian Woywod led the way for the Cougars in the 200 meter finals. The senior placed 15th with a time of 24.64. Sophomore Matthew Wolthusen (Stickeny, Ill.) was right behind him in 16th.

In the 800 meter finals, it was freshman Callum Hardwicke (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) who set the pace for the Cougars, finishing 11th with a time of 2:13.69.

The team will have less than a week of rest before returning to action this Friday, Jan. 21, at the Snow Day Invitational hosted by North Central. The meet is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
