Lenno Lasn hired as new head men's and women's tennis coach

Concordia University Chicago hired Lenno Lasn as the head men's and women's tennis coach.

Concordia University Chicago Athletics will bring on Lenno Lasn as the new head tennis coach, director of athletics Pete Gnan announced today. He will be the first full-time head men's and women's tennis the University has had in the past 25 years.

"We believe with the addition of Lenno to our department, our students will have a great experience in the sport of tennis," Gnan said. "He has coached in our conference and has connections in the Chicagoland area. We are excited for the future of our tennis programs."

Lasn previously coached at the collegiate level at Dominican University, where he was at the helm of the men's and women's teams. During his five years with the program, he led the team to the most victories in school history. He also served as a coach at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY, where he was an assistant coach who trained some of the top talent in the Greater New York area.

Along with his coaching experience, he was a tennis professional at Score Tennis and Fitness, Courts Plus at Elmhurst Park District and Nick Brebenel Tennis Pro, Inc. While serving in this role at various places, Lasn developed programs to train young tennis players who attended these facilities. Not only that, but he coached and traveled with all of the athletes associated with those organizations, serving as their coach during competition.

"I am excited to join the CUC family and I am thankful to Pete Gnan and the rest of the administration for the opportunity to coach the game I love," Lasn said.

Prior to his extensive career as a coach, Lasn played tennis at Queens College in New York. There, he was a national champion in singles for the National Junior College Tennis Championships. He also earned a second-place finish in doubles at the championship tournament.

Lasn earned his bachelor's in accounting from Queens College. Currently, he resides in Elmhurst, Ill. He will start in this position on Monday, April 19.
