Box Score River Forest, Ill. — Concordia University Chicago men's basketball (2-10) lost a non-conference battle with Loras College (6-3) by a final score of 89-68 on Wednesday.
The Cougars played a solid first half, holding a lead as large as eight and went to the locker room down just one point. The Cougars shot 50 percent from deep in the first 20 minutes, but that percentage was cut in half following the break.
Quite the opposite was the case for the Duhawks, who turned around their 4-11 first half performance from beyond the arc to an impressive 7-13 in the second. The team shot over 66 percent from the floor as a whole in the second half.
Jordan Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) welcomed his former team to town by leading all scorers with 20. The junior was a crisp 4-7 from deep and 7-14 from the floor. Justin Greenlee (Brown Deer, Wis.) scored a career-high nine points. The freshman was scrappy all night, forcing two steals and grabbing four rebounds to go along with his scoring.
Junior Izak Ruddell (Saint Joseph, Mich.) and sophomore Brent Hatten (Olney, Ill.) were the only other Cougars to score in double-figures, with 12 and 11, respectively. Ruddell added a team-high eight boards and picked up a pair of steals.
The Cougars will be back in action this weekend when they welcome rival Dominican to Geiseman for a Friday and Saturday weekend series that will round out the regular season. Friday's game is set to tip at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 5. A stream to both games will be available on the
