Box Score The Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team hit the road for the first time this season, traveling north to the Milwaukee School of Engineering. After a hard-fought battle between the two teams, the Cougars faced a tight 73-74 loss to the Raiders.
Heading into the half, CUC was up by six after multiple turnovers from MSOE. But after 40 minutes, the Cougars let the Raiders sneak back in to ultimately lose in the non-conference contest.
Although this puts Concordia at 0-4 to start the season, there was a bright spot for junior
Jordan Matthews (Chicago, Ill.). The 6-foot-1-inch guard registered a team-high 25 points as he shot 9-16 from the field. He also led the team in steals with three and was tied for team-highs for assists with three and rebounds with four.
Two other Cougars also finished with double-digit points. Freshman
Emanuel Wilson (Wheaton, Ill.) and junior
Izak Ruddell (Saint Joseph, Mich.) each grabbed more than 10 points, recording 14 and 11, respectively.
The Cougars will have a short break before returning to Geiseman Gymnasium on Sunday, February 7 as they prepare to take on a non-conference opponent in Buena Vista University. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. A livestream is available at youtube.com/cucsports.
