Cougars Fall To CUW In NACC Action

RIVER FOREST, Ill. --- Taking on arch-rival Concordia University Wisconsin, on Monday night, the Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team took to the floor shorthanded. The Cougars battled tough throughout the first half in a back-and-forth affair, it wasn't until an early second-half run that the Falcons of CUW were able to pull away. Ultimately CUW downed CUC 84-66.
 
Inside the box score
- All 11 active players for CUC played in the game. 
- Jalen Meeks led the way with 20 points on 6-17 shooting.
- Emanuel Wilson had a solid performance with 12 points on 5-10 shooting. He also chipped in six rebounds and two steals. 
- The game featured nine ties and eight lead changes, all coming in the first half.
 
The Cougar offense came inside in the early goings. Liam Cameron, Wilson, and Jacob Collicott navigated their way around the paint for the first eight points of the game. CUC grabbed their first lead of the day on a jumper by Collicott with 15:26 remaining in the first half.
 
CUC and CUW exchanged blows throughout the first half. The Cougars grabbed the lead again midway through the half on a Kieran Heller three. The Falcons were able to pull ahead late in the half, closing on an 8-0 run to take a 35-29 lead into the half.
 
Concordia Wisconsin continued to pad their lead early in the second half, extending their lead to double digits in the opening minutes. The Cougars were unable to put a stop to the Falcons run, which allowed CUW to pull away for the 84-66 NACC win.
 
With the loss, the Cougars fall to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the NACC. The Falcons improve to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in NACC play.
 
The Cougars will look to rebound when they head to Wisconsin for their first conference road test of the season. CUC will take on Marian University on Saturday afternoon, with opening tip scheduled for 4:15 pm from Sadoff Gymnasium.
