River Forest, Ill. -- The Concordia University Chicago women's basketball team opened up Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play by taking on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons Tuesday evening.

Mikalah Ellis (Chicago, Ill.) returned to the court as she led the team with 15 points, four rebounds, and one steal.

Alisyn MacGregor (Loves Park, Ill.) collected 13 rebounds, the team's highest of the game, as well as four points and one steal.

Bailey Steinkamp (Cary, Ill.) recorded three assists and four rebounds.
In the first quarter of play, Lauren Saleh (River Forest, Ill.) was responsible for getting the Cougars on the board first, but was quickly followed by a three pointer by the Falcons. Less than thirty seconds later, Jaylene Wade (Lansing, Ill.) brought Concordia Chicago back in the lead with a jumper. The two teams went back and forth until a minute and a half was left in the quarter where CUW broke away, ending the quarter 18-10.
Sarah Ludwig (Roselle, Ill.) started out the scoring effort early in the second quarter with a free throw, soon followed up by a layup. The Cougars continued to fight during the remainder of the first half, trailing 37-21 as they closed out the first twenty minutes.
During the second half, it took CUC four minutes to get their first point and this happened when Jada Dixon (Gary, Ind.) was on the free throw line, shortly accompanied by a three pointer from Wade. Out of the 12 points scored by the Cougars in the third quarter, nine of them were from free throws.
In the last 10 minutes of the game, Ellis shined as she started out the quarter with a layup, followed by a three pointer and a jump shot, trying to get Concordia Chicago back into the game. Scoring efforts were made by Ludwig, Chloe Schaafsma (Lockport, Ill.), Josey Kahl (Forest Lake, Minn.), but the Cougars ultimately fell 67-50 to Concordia University Wisconsin.
