Quick Recap:
  • The Warriors jumped out quickly to a 6-0 lead this afternoon.
  • Steinkamp shut down the WLC tear with a layup, and then ignited CUC's offense, as Annika Rae and Michaela Thornton each scored layups off steals, and made it a tie game, at six points apiece.
  • With 3:27 left in the first, Rae went on to drive through another layup and pull within five of the Warriors, as CUC now trailed 13-8.
  • After Rae's layup, WLC picked up the pace and rattle off another shut-out run scoring 11 points to lead 24-8 heading into the second quarter.
  • Thornton scored CUC's first points of the second, as she deflected the ball out of a Warrior's hands and converted the fast break layup.
  • Although the Cougars kept chipping away, WLC knocked down back-to-back threes, to take a 20-point lead, at 30-10, with just under eight minutes left in the half.
  • As four minutes remained in the half, Steinkamp took over the floor, draining a corner three, scoring on a rebounded put-back and picking up two rebounds down the stretch
  • At the end of the half, the Cougars had pulled back within 10 of the Warriors, thanks to CUC's nine, first-half steals and 16 points in the paint.
  • Thornton scored Concordia's first points of the second half too, as the senior drew a foul while driving to the basket, and sank both free throws.
  • After Thornton's free throws, the Warriors iced CUC's offense for two minutes, before Crystal Corr would pick up a steal and travel coast-to-coast to drain the fast break layup.
  • With five minutes remaining in the third, Megan Long got involved in the scoring, as she sunk a step-back jumper, and kept CUC's deficit at 10 points, with the Cougars trailing 40-30.
