CUC Returns Home for Spartan Clash

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- After dropping their last two contests, the Cougars will look to bounce back into the win column on Tuesday night, taking on the Aurora University Spartans. A win over the Spartans would end a 14-game losing streak to Aurora dating back to 2012.

Sam Brief and Carter Gledhill will have the call on the Cougar Sports Network with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m. Complete coverage of the game can be found at cucougars.com/coverage and @cuc_menhoops on Twitter.

Last Time Out... Concordia-Chicago dropped a heartbreaker over the weekend, falling 82-80 to Rockford University in the final minutes of play. The Regents held CUC scoreless over the final two minutes, while going 3-of-4 from the free throw line to squeak out the two-point victory.

Shauno's World... Senior guard Raushaun Amos has found his comfort zone at CUC this season, as the St. Louis native has recorded 21-point performances in each of his last two outings. Setting a new career-high in scoring (21) against Trine University last Monday, Amos matched that career high again over the weekend against Rockford. Against the Regents, Amos recorded his first career double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. He has also scored in double-digits in his last five games and averages 3.8 assists per game during that span.

Scouting the Spartans... Off to a 3-8 start and holding a 2-4 conference record, the Spartans are amid a two-game losing streak, having dropped back-to-back home games to WLC and Dominican. With NACC wins over IIT and MSOE, Aurora is averaging 79.5 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 84.3 points on average. The Spartans have won two of their three games on the road, with Will Hrubes leading the team with 14.1 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Notables... The match up between the Spartans and Cougars will serve as the first NACC meeting between head coaches Steve Kollar and Matt Airy. Each coach is in their first seasons at the helm of their respective programs. Though reigning NACC champs, the Aurora Spartans rank 10th in the conference currently, while the Cougars are hanging onto the sixth seed.

The Series... Dating back to 2006, the Cougars are 4-22 when competing against the Spartans. In those four victories over Aurora, the Cougars have never won by more than seven points. In the last 26 meetings with the Spartans, CUC has averaged 78.81 points per game.
