RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- After picking up two wins this week, the Concordia-Chicago men's basketball team will look for one more at Dominican University tomorrow afternoon. CUC will look to improve upon its 5-6 overall record and 4-3 conference ledger.
What You Missed... The Cougars will head to Dominican after coming off an electric victory last night inside Geiseman Gymnasium, where CUC trounced Maranatha Baptist, 102-74. It was the second time this season that Concordia recorded 100+ points in a victory, while shattering a program and NACC record along the way with 21-made three pointers. A total of 14 players appeared in the box score, with 12 players appearing in the scoring column.
Shauno's World... Senior guard
Raushaun Amos continues to impress on the floor this season, as the St. Louis native scored a game-high 19 points last night, along with 6-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. He also picked up five boards and three assists en route to his seventh straight double-digit scoring performance. Through those seven games, Amos has averaged 18.6 points per game, 3.7 assists per game and 7 rebounds per game.Â
Scouting the Stars... Dominican currently ranks seventh among the NACC standings, just one spot behind the Cougars, with a 7-5 overall, 3-4 conference record thus far. The Stars averaged 77 points per game and rank third in the conference in rebounding with 38.6 per game. Junior Jackson Smith leads the team with 15.7 points per game off 47.4 percent field goal shooting. He also shoots 40.4 percent from three-point range. Fellow Star Tyler Guest chips in from the floor and on the glass, as the junior averages 8.6 boards per game in addition to 11.8 points per game.
Pieces of the Puzzle... After just playing 46 minutes during his freshman year, now sophomoreÂ
Izak Ruddell has worked his way into being a critical part of CUC's success this season. Since joining Concordia's starting lineup, four games ago, Ruddell has averaged 8.8 points per game, dished 12 assists and shot 11-of-17 from three-point range. Ruddell's 62.5 three-point percentage is the best among all active NACC players.
Big Marks... If CUC secures a win over the Stars, it would mark the longest active win-streak since the 2010-11 Cougars went on a six-game tear from Jan. 22- Feb. 5.
