Jalen Meeks led the charge with 31 points, including the crucial four points in regulation that pushed the contest into overtime. Senior
Mitch Pelissier also had a big game for his squad, tallying 29 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Scouting the Stars... Dominican will be looking for a win against the Cougars tomorrow, after dropping their last two games to Marian and Edgewood. The Stars last won on Feb. 2, downing Illinois Tech 63-57. Key players for CUC's rivals are Isaac Moore and Jackson Smith, who are averaging 12.5 and 10.6 points per game respectively.
Last Meeting... The Cougars came out victorious in their last meeting against the Stars, working for the 103-92 overtime victory.
Mitch Pelissier finished with a career-high 40 points and a performance to earn him his first career NACC Athlete of the Week honor.
Landen Gladney also reached a 25-point, 15-rebound double-double, while holding the Stars' leading scorer (Moore) to just seven points through 45 minutes. Sean Ek led the way for Dominican through the contest, finishing with 16 points on 3-5 shooting from the field, banking in his lone three-point attempt and making 9-10 shots from the charity stripe.
Freshman Phenom... Landen Gladney continues to push his limits this season, as he has reached yet another new career-high over the past week. In a win over Wisconsin Lutheran College last weekend, Gladney scored 28 points and matched that same career-high in the team's 100-83 loss to Lakeland. In 21 games this season, the rookie has recorded double-digit rebounds in 19 games and reached 17 double-doubles on the year. Gladney ranks first in the nation for total double-doubles and sixth for rebounds per game (12.9). He also lands among the top 25 in three other categories, total rebounds (270), offensive rebounds per game (5.05) and defensive rebounds per game (7.81).
Buckets for Basbous... Since joining the starting lineup for the Cougars in January to kick off the second half, sophomore
Hassan Basbous has averaged 11.3 points per game for CUC. With his points per game average, the Illinois native has scored in double-digits in each of his last six games, including his first two career double-doubles.
