Men's Basketball Pushing for Season Sweep Over Rockford

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Concordia-Chicago men's basketball team is headed to Rockford University this evening, to take on the red-hot Regents who are in the middle of a three-game win streak.

Tip off is slated for a 7:15 p.m. start time, approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game. Complete coverage is available at cucougars.com/coverage.

The Regents' Roar... Coming off three straight victories against IIT, Marian and Benedictine, Rockford is now 11-10 on the year and has slid into third place among the NACC standings. Senior forward Tony Diemer earned his second Athlete of the Week honor this past Monday, after averaging a double-double on the week with 21.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds. Other threats to CUC in the Regents' lineup are Brandon Emerick and Kevin Diemer who average 12.9 and 11.1 points per game, respectively. Rockford also has five other players averaging at least 5.7 points per game.

Last Meeting... The Cougars came out victorious in their last meeting against Rockford, winning the contest 86-79. Senior guard Mitch Pelissier tallied 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists en route to his first career victory over the Regents. Justin Schwarz and Landen Gladney also chipped in with 19 and 18 points apiece, respectively. While Rockford out shot CUC that night, .425-.406, Concordia-Chicago was near perfect from the charity stripe shooting 84.4 percent compared to just 33.3 for the Regents.

Three-Point Threats... First year players Raymond Falk and Cade Mousel have been recent contributors for the Cougars around the three-point arc. The freshman and sophomore duo have combined for 18-of-51 (35.3 percent) from beyond the arc this season and have shot 50 percent from range over CUC's last two games.

Freshman Phenom... Landen Gladney continues to push his limits this season, as he has reached yet another new career-high over the past week. In a win over Wisconsin Lutheran College last weekend, Gladney scored 28 points and matched that same career-high in the team's 100-83 loss to Lakeland. In 20 games this season, the rookie has recorded double-digit rebounds in 18 games and reached 17 double-doubles on the year. Gladney ranks first in the nation for total double-doubles and sixth for rebounds per game (12.8). He also lands among the top 25 in three other categories, total rebounds (255), offensive rebounds per game (4.9) and defensive rebounds per game (7.85).
