What's at Stake... With games against Lakeland, Rockford and Dominican this week, the Cougars have a chance to jump the standings in the NACC. Earlier this season, CUC had defeated both Rockford and Dominican and fell just 95-92 to the Muskies in their last time meeting.
Home Court Heroes... The Cougars play arguably their best basketball in front of their home crowd. With a 5-14 overall record on the year, CUC has won all five games inside Geiseman Gymnasium and will look for their first road victory of the year tonight.
Scouting the Muskies... Lakeland is currently 8-12 on the year with a 6-9 NACC conference record. Coming off a loss to CUW last weekend, the Muskies will look to earn their second victory of the season over the Cougars. In a tight match up between the two teams back in December, Muskie Jequan Pegeese led his team with 19 points. Despite Pegeese's big performance, Carlos Campos leads the team on the year averaging 14.6 points per game.
Freshman Phenom... Chicago native Landen Gladney has made his presence known across the country throughout his freshman year campaign. With the hot start to his college career, he has recorded double-digit rebounds in 16 games and has 16 double-doubles on the season. Combining for a career-high 28 points last weekend in a commanding victory over WLC, Gladney is tied for first in the nation for total double-doubles and sixth for rebounds per game (12.8). He is also ninth in the country with 243 total boards, fifth for offensive rebounds per game (4.84) and 21st in defensive rebounds per game (7.95).
A Meeks Matter... As the team's third leading scorer, sophomore Jalen Meeks is a key part of the Cougars' lineup. Averaging 16.4 points per game, Meeks leads CUC in total steals with 34 as well as ranking third in the conference for averaging 2.0 steals per game. He is also second on the team in assists (29) and blocks (10).
Pelissier's Point... Former NACC Athlete of the Week and senior guard Mitch Pelissier has left his mark on the CUC basketball program, as he moved into third place on the Concordia-Chicago all-time scoring list last week, now with 1,693 career points. Averaging 21.8 points per game, he is currently second in the NACC and ranks 31st nationally among Division III basketball.
