Last Time Out... The Cougars will look to bounce back from a loss to Marian last night and snag their first road victory of the season. CUC's five starters were the lone scorers last night, with
Hassan Basbous leading the way with a career-high 34 points.
Buckets for Basbous... Since joining the starting lineup for the Cougars in January to kick off the second half, sophomore
Hassan Basbous has been a steady hand for CUC. In his last four games, the Illinois native is averaging a double-double with 19 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game. With his four double-doubles in the last two weeks, they have marked the firsts of his career in maroon and gold. Last night, Babsous recorded a phenomenal 34 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Scouting the Eagles... Edgewood is currently in the eighth seed among the NACC standings currently, fighting for a playoff spot with tonight's game against the Cougars. The Eagles are 9-9 in conference play and 9-16 overall on the year with notable wins over Rockford, Benedictine and Wisconsin Lutheran. Last week, Edgewood broke a program record, making 17 shots from beyond the arc, en route to a 109-94 win over the Regents of Rockford. Sophomore Jake Negus leads the way for his team, averaging 18.2 points per game this season, followed by Ben Seefeld (12.8) and Emil Radisevic (11.0).
Last Meeting... The two NACC foes last battled head-to-head back in December, where the Cougars fell to the Eagles, 93-84 in Geiseman Gymnasium. That night, CUC had just four players score, with
Jalen Meeks tallying his career-high 33 points. Edgewood's Jake Negus was the star for his squad that night, as the sophomore shot 10-of-20 from the field, draining six three's to combine for 37 points.
Freshman Phenom... Landen Gladney continues to push his limits this season, with 18 double-doubles recorded in 23 games on the year. The rookie has also recorded double-digit rebounds in 20 games, putting him atop the national rankings for double-doubles and rebounding. Gladney is currently second in the NACC, averaging 12.5 boards per game and is also sixth in the conference with his 18.0 points per game average.
