MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- After a career-defining performance,
Mitch Pelissier earned the NACC's Athlete of the Week and was named to
D3Hoops' Team of the Week, both organizations announced Tuesday.
Despite going 1-1 last week, the senior guard averaged 33.0 points per game and tallied his third and fourth consecutive games of scoring 26 points or more.
In a 97-84 loss to Aurora early last week, Pelissier dropped 26 points, grabbed eight boards and shot 9-of-18 from the floor. Bouncing back for the weekend slate, the Puyallup native was ready for round one of two against River Forest rival Dominican University this season.
Against the stars, Pelissier shot 52 percent overall and scored 40 points on the evening, a career-high for Concordia-Chicago's fifth all-time leading scorer. His 40-point game marked the first time a Cougar has reached such in at least two decades. Pelissier added eight more rebounds on Saturday to bring his weekly total to 16, as well as three steals and four assists en route to a 103-92 overtime victory against CUC's Division Street rivals.
The senior Cougar currently leads the NACC in points per game, averaging 23.0 on the season. His points per game averaged also ranks 13th on a national level.
