MSOE Has Too Much For CUC Despite Basbous' Career High

Jan. 19, 2019 -  The Concordia-Chicago men's basketball team hooked up with the Milwaukee School of Engineering for the only time this season at the Kern Center this afternoon. The Cougars put up a good fight, but the Raiders had too much offense as they ran away to a 110-85 victory;

Hassan Basbous was the first CUC player to find his touch, as he scored 10 of the Cougars' first 13 points. His first three-pointer of the season had the Cougars within 16-13 early. However, MSOE opened up a double-digit lead behind some accurate outside shooting, led by Matthew Kirmse, The Raiders' guard would score 35 points including 5-12 three-point shooting as the home team's lead would top out at 17 on the first half. Concordia-Chicago fought back in the final 30 seconds of the half, however, as Neil O'Donnell drove for a layup and Landen Gladney cashed in on two free throws just before the buzzer to keep the Cougars within 13 points, 55-42.

Jalen Meeks would score the first points of the second half, but that was as close as CUC came. The Raiders ran off the next nine points over a span of four minutes to take their first 20-point lead of the game. Concordia-Chicago had one more run in them, getting the deficit down to nine but not having enough to complete the big comeback.
