Heidelberg Uses Third Quarter to Overpower Cougars

River Forest, Ill.- The Cougars men's lacrosse team opened up spring break this afternoon after a tough Heidelberg team that has come out of the gates scoring 41 goals in two games.  CUC's defense has improved and looked to stop high potent offense and mix in a little of their own offense in today's match.  In the first half, the Cougars played their game defensively allowing only three goals and trailing by two.  However, the second half was a different story as the Student Princes took charge with seven goals in the third quarter to put the game out of reach and win by the final score of 15-1.

Hunter Combe had the lone goal for the Cougars scoring his second on the year.  Jack Liskey made a career high 27 saves with some of those jaw dropping for an astounding .643 save percentage.

The story of the first half was the CUC defense and Liskey in net.  The defense of Will Wassmann, Isaac Strand, and Robert Padilla weren't allowing Heidelberg to do much offensively.  To go along with that, Liskey was frustrating Heidelberg attackers with at least five great saves in the first 30 minutes.  Late in the half, the Cougars got on the board when Combe ripped a shot through the goalkeepers legs to head into halftime only trailing 3-1.

In the third quarter was when the game really started to favor Heidelberg.  They scored two quick goals to go up four that sunk the sails of CUC.  The Student Princes scored seven goals in the third to put the game out of reach and win by the final score of 15-1.

The Cougars (0-3) returns to action this Friday at home when they take on North Central (MN).  Face-off is set for 11:00am.
