Cougars Fall To Falcons As The Season Closes

River Forest, Ill.- The Cougar men came into today's game looking to average a loss earlier this season against Concordia Wisconsin at the Concordia Invitational Tournament.  With today being Senior Day, the Cougars wanted to give Immanuel Oby, Sheldon Moore, and Justin Mack one final win on the home court against a rival.  However, the Falcons came out looking like they wanted that home game in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference playoffs as they jumped on the Cougars early and often.  CUW didn't let up in the second half either as they went on to defeat the CUC 99-76.

Mitch Pelissier led the Cougars with 14 points (5-15 FG), five assists, and four rebounds.  Moore finished his career with 12 points (5-14 FG), two rebounds, and two assists.

Concordia-Wisconsin came out of the gates clicking on all cylinders as they could not miss from the field.  Within the first five minutes of the game, the Falcons jumped out to an 11 point lead. Pelissier was keeping the Cougars in the game with his hot shooting from the floor knocking down back to back threes to cut the lead to as little as four.  However, the Falcons came right back and regained the momentum to jump to a l double digit lead as Josh Hau was making everything from the floor with 18 first half points.  Concordia-Chicago tried to cut into the lead with three balls from Moore and Sawyer Concklin, but CUW was able to generate a 55-37 lead heading into halftime.

The start of the second half started well as they were able to get some defensive stops and Mack doing big man things in the post to cut the lead to 14.  Both teams kept trading baskets with Mack and Pelissier doing the heavy lifting, the Falcons continued to play strong on both ends of the court.  Midway through the half, CUW jumped out to their largest lead of the afternoon at 25 points.  From there, both coaches emptied their benches as the Falcons went on to win 99-76 in the regular season finale.  The Cougars close out the season 2-23 overall and 1-19 in the NACC.
