Cougars Travel to Benedictine for Saturday Tilt

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- After a week off from game action, the Cougars return to the floor Saturday evening to take on the Benedictine Eagles in Lisle, Ill. Saturday's match up will be Concordia-Chicago's last NACC conference game until 2019, as CUC travels to Seattle early next week for a two-game non-conference slate.

Tip off is slated to begin at 4:15 p.m. in Lisle, beginning approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game. To follow along with all of this weekend's action, visit cucougars.com/coverage.

Series Stackup... As a historically national powerhouse, the Cougars are 1-7 against the Eagles in the last four seasons. CUC last defeated Benedictine in January of 2015, by way of 87-81. Over the last eight meetings between the two, Concordia-Chicago has averaged 73.1 points per game. On the other side, the Eagles have averaged 98.3 points against the Cougars during the last four years.

Seeing is Believing... As a freshman, Landen Gladney has redefined CUC and NCAA record books. In seven games this season, and of his career, the Chicago native has tabbed a double-double in every single game, marking unprecedented success at the Division III level. He ranks seventh in the nation, averaging 13.0 rebounds per game and is one of six athletes to have seven or more double-doubles on the year. Of the six athletes with seven or more, Gladney is the only one to reach a double-double in every game he has played in this season. During a two-game stretch last week, the rookie reached a career-high 20 points in both games and had a career-high 17 rebounds against Wisconsin Lutheran.

Around the Horn... In the NACC, the Cougars are first among scoring offenses, averaging 90.9 points per game. CUC's points per game average is also good for 19th, out of 416 teams, across Division III basketball. Concordia-Chicago also sits 31st in the nation averaging 30.71 defensive rebounds per game, with Landen Gladney ranking eighth in the nation with an average of 8.86 defensive boards per game.

One-Two Punch... Cougar studs Mitch Pelissier and Jalen Meeks pack a punch when running the floor together. The duo ranks second and third, respectively, in the NACC in points per game average with 20.3 and 20.2. Since Pelissier has appeared in all seven of CUC's games this season, his points per game average ranks 76th nationally.

Coming Up... After Saturday's tilt at Benedictine, the Cougars will head west to Seattle, Wash. on Sunday to take on University of Puget Sound on Monday night and Whitworth University next Wednesday.
