Hot Off the Press... In the first four games of the season, CUC has already matched its win total from the 2017-18 campaign. With a win over Edgewood, the Cougars would mark their most successful start to a season since the 2009-10 season, when CUC went 4-1 through its first five games of the year. Concordia-Chicago last opened up a season with a 3-2 record in 2008-09.
Scouting the Eagles... The Eagles are off to an 0-4 start this season, including two games against top-10 ranked opponents. They're also 0-1 in conference play with a 83-69 loss to Lakeland earlier this week.The Cougars outweigh Edgewood in nearly all scoring categories, with the Eagles averaging 67.0 points per game opposed to 90.8 for CUC.Â
Around the Horn... In the NACC, the Cougars are first among scoring offenses, averaging 90.8 points per game. CUC's points per game average is also good for 29th, out of 416 teams, across Division III basketball. CUC also stands fourth in the conference, averaging 14.3 assists per game and shooting 73.8 percent from the charity stripe. The Cougars' free throw shooting ranks 91st in the country.Â
Aren't You Glad?... First year athlete and Chicago native Landen Gladney has been electric for the Cougars through the first four games of his collegiate career. In all four games, Gladney has notched a double-double, which ranks the freshman sixth in the nation for total double-doubles. He is also ranked 82nd for total rebounds (51), sixth for rebounds per game (12.8) and 10th for defensive rebounds per game (9.25).
