April 23, 2017- Concordia-Chicago came into the day looking to get their first win of the season in the last home match of the season against Beloit College. Beloit sits atop of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference tied with Aurora University with an unbeaten conference record. Unfortunately for the Cougars, the Buccaneers came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and win by the final score of 19-3.
Beloit jumped out to a quick lead on the Cougars scoring five goals in the first five minutes of the game to rid any confidence CUC had. The Cougars got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter with a
Corey Sheehan goal to cut the lead to 7-1. The Buccaneers closed out the first half with with five more goals to go into halftime with a 12-1 lead.
The second half proved much of the same for Beloit as they continued to add on to their lead and minimize any comeback that the Cougars had in store.
Brett Krueger and
Brian Harris scored for CUC, but it was not enough as Beloit went on to win 19-3.
Krueger led the Cougars on the day with a goal and an assist. The Buccaneers had two four goal scorers in Andreas Piepenberg and Michael Boyland.
The Cougars (0-13, 0-7 MLC) return to action this Saturday in the final game of the season to take on Fontbonne University. Face-off is set for 7:00pm.
