Kenneth Handy BA ’93 earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary physical education from Concordia University Chicago in 1993.
Handy was a four-year letter winner for the Cougars playing on the men’s basketball team between 1988 and 1993. Handy appeared in 79 career games and is part of the University’s 1,000-point club. Often revered as a team leader, Handy shot .458 from the field in his career and shot just under 70 percent from the free-throw line. His best season came during the 1992-93 campaign where he averaged 14.6 points and pulled down 6.4 rebounds per game.
One of the biggest moments of Handy’s career came at the 1993 Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT). The Cougars won the coveted tournament title, and Handy was named the men’s tournament MVP in front of a packed Geiseman Gymnasium. The 1993 season was the most successful during Handy’s career when the team finished 14-11 overall and were co-champions of the NIIC with a record of 7-3. Handy was named All-Northern Illinois Iowa Conference in 1992 and 1993.
