Craig Mueller, ’73, competed in football and basketball for four years. He received Lutheran College All-American and NAIA All-District honors in football in 1971. Mueller’s basketball prowess earned him Lutheran College All-American acclaim during the 1971-72 season, making him one of a very few to be honored by that group for two sports within the same year. He went on to earn all-NIIC honors in basketball that season as well. Mueller ranks third in rebounds on Concordia’s all-time list with 889, and his 924 career points place him among the top twenty Cougars.
Mueller was certified as a firefighter in the state of Florida in 1977. Since then, he has served in various capacities, his most recent being Battalion Chief in the Ocala Fire Department. He continues to serve as an adjunct instructor in the Florida State Fire College. Mueller is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Florida Firefighter Games. Since 1981, he has won multiple gold medals in track and volleyball in the Games.
