Jon Poppe (Racine, WI) of the men’s track team is honored for the week of Jan. 10-16.

            
Poppe competed in the pentathlon at Carthage and set personal-best marks in three of the five events – the high jump, long jump and shot put. Ironically, it was another event – the 1,000-meter run – that produced his best finish as his 2:52.62 was good for third among the 12 runners. Overall, his point total of 2,588 for the five events earned sixth place overall as well as set a new school record in the event.

Poppe, the son of the Rev. Randal and Cinda Poppe, is a 2009 graduate of Racine Lutheran High School. He is a sophomore Lutheran secondary education major.
