Concordia University Chicago Athletics

            Jamal Thomas (Weirsdale, Fla.) of the football team is honored for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.

            Thomas caught 10 passes for 231 yards in the 47-41 loss to Benedictine University on Oct. 2. The 231 receiving yards set a new Concordia single-game record held by 1984 alumnus and former Chicago Bear Todd Black (211). Included in Thomas’ catches was a 26-yard touchdown reception and a long gain of 65 yards.

            Thomas, the son of Ante and Joyce Thomas, is a 2008 graduate of Lake Weir High School in Ocala, Fla. He is a sophomore marketing major.
