Cassie Irwin (Shelby Township, MI) of the women’s track team is honored for the week of April 16-22.
Irwin ran the final leg for the Cougar women’s 4 x 100-meter relay team, helping them to a first-place time of 51.27 seconds at the April 20 Cougar Invitational. She also placed sixth and earned team points in three events – the pole vault (7’ 5 ¾”), 100-meter dash (13.32 seconds) and 200-meter dash (27.67). Her 100-meter time was an all-time personal best while the other two events represented season-best marks. Irwin accounted for 11.5 team points in helping the Cougar women to a second-place finish.
Irwin, the daughter of Ted and Sandy Irwin, is a 2009 graduate of Lutheran High School Northwest in Rochester Hills, Mich. She is a junior Lutheran elementary education major.
