Jamal Thomas (Weirsdale, FL) of the men’s track team is honored for the week of April 2-8.

Thomas moved into the top 20 nationally among Division III athletes with winning performances in the triple and long jumps at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships April 6-7. His school-record 46’ 3 ¼” in the triple jump put him in 16^th place currently while his 22’ 11 ¾” effort in the long jump put him in 18th place (the top 20 in each event go to the nationals in May). Thomas accounted for 20 of the Cougar men’s 29 team points as they finished in 11^th place among some local Division I and II teams.

Thomas, the son of Ante and Joyce Thomas, is a 2008 graduate of Lake Weir High School in Ocala, Fla. He is a junior marketing major.
