Sept. 25, 2014 - The Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team, having lost just two players to graduation from last year's squad, has reloaded with a vengeance for the 2014-15 season. Nine new players will join head coach Tyler Jones' squad.
"I feel we have added significant depth at every position but especially on the inside, and I think we can battle with any team whether on the inside or the outside," said Jones.

Kylan Anderson is a 6'0" 175-lb. guard originally from Topeka, Kansas. He transferred to CUC after playing two seasons at Morton Community College where he averaged 10 points per game and earned all-conference honors.
Coach Jones: "Kylan is a scorer and playmaker who we are happy to have wearing our uniform. He has a lot of athleticism, and we feel that his speed and quickness are comparable to many Division I players."
Adam Giger is a 6'7" 193-lb. freshman from Kissimmee, Florida. He played his prep ball at Gateway High School and was part of their district championship team in 2013. Giger was the three-point champion of the 2014 Osceola County All-Star Game where he knocked down a record 59 threes in three rounds.
Coach Jones: "Adam brings us a perimeter game in a center's body. He has a great shooting touch and a high basketball IQ. Defensively, he has great length to frustrate opponents, and he is very adept at taking charges."
Martrell Land is a 5'8" 160-lb. guard from Chicago, Illinois who attended Mather High School. He is a junior transfer from South Suburban Jr. College where he played for John Bugatti.
Coach Jones: "Martrell is a crafty point guard who plays with a high level of energy. His quickness on the ball will be a big asset to our program."
Shane Murray is a 6'8" 230-lb. freshman from Downers Grove, Illinois. He lettered in basketball and football at Lisle High School.Â
Coach Jones: "Shane has the physical presence that's needed to compete in the NACC. He's an athletic big man who can score and rebound, and he will be an added bonus to the program."
Patrick Phillip is a 6'5" 230-lb. freshman from Kissimmee, Florida. He played his prep ball at Osceola County High School and contributed to two conference championships and a 2014 district championship.
Coach Jones: "Patrick is a highly skilled combo player. He can score on the block but is equally capable of stepping out and shooting the three. His versatility should earn him ample playing time."
Keenan Robinson is a 6'6" 200-lb. freshman from Chicago, Illinois. He was part of one of the winningest Chicago Public League programs at Curie High School where he would hone his skills against Kansas-bound teammate Cliff Alexander.
Coach Jones: "Keenan is already used to a very high level of competition, and we feel he will make a fast transition to the college game. He adds great length and energy."
Kejuan Thornton is a 6'1" 180-lb. freshman from Eric Solario High School in Chicago, Illinois.
Coach Jones: "Kejuan is an active scorer and a good ball handler who plays with aggressiveness. His natural style should help him made the adjustment to the college game."
Tino Vazquez is a 6'4" 190-lb. Chicago native who comes to CUC as a junior transfer from Morton Community College. He attended Proviso East High School where he played on three regional championship teams and one sectional champion. Vazquez also played in the West Suburban All-Star game and the first West Side/South Side All-Star game.
Coach Jones: "Tino is a great addition to our team with his versatility and well-rounded game. He has terrific range to shoot the three but can also play close to the basket."
Tyler Zastrow is a 5'9" 160-lb. freshman from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Zastrow scored 1,380 points in his career at Sheboygan Lutheran High School where he was part of a state championship team in 2012. He was named to numerous all-area and all-state teams.
Coach Jones: "Tyler brings such an outstanding pedigree. His scoring ability, speed and quickness are all big assets to our program, and he will also transition nicely to the college game."
