Sept. 22, 2012 - The Concordia Cougar women's tennis team received quality performances from their top flights this afternoon, but the visiting Dominican Stars controlled the remaining flights in beating the Cougars 6-3 in Northern Athletics Conference play.
Sophomores
Deanna Richardson (Bellwood, IL/Walther Lutheran) and
Abby Matayka (Arlington Heights, IL/Rolling Meadows) accounted for all of the Cougars' points. They teamed at first doubles to defeat Rachel Taddy and Jillian Metcalf 8-6. In singles play, Richardson won 6-1 and 6-2 over Taddy. Matayka outlasted Emily Hereford at second, 6-0, 2-6 and 10-6.
The remaining Cougars' doubles team were shuffled today due to the absence of
Kamile Udrenaite (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South). Molly Maas (Pewaukee, WI/H.S.) and
Kristy Heimsoth (Milwaukee, WI/Martin Luther) teamed at second and fell 8-0 to Marbeya Berner and Rosemary Orchanian
. Hannah Kaul (Wauwatosa, WI/Wauwatosa East) and
Becca Lamanna (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) lost 8-3 at third doubles to Hereford and Stephanie Castaneda.
Concordia returns to action Tuesday with a match at Rockford College.
