Merrell Davis (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Lutheran) has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week in men's indoor track for Jan. 30-Feb. 5. It is the second NAC award for Davis in the past three weeks, as he was previously honored for the week of Jan. 16-22.
Davis won three events at the UW-Parkside Classic Feb. 5 in Kenosha, Wis. His win in the long jump (22' 9”) topped his previous school record set in 2011 by 3 ¾”. Davis' other winning marks included a 42' 0” in the triple jump and a time of 6.55 seconds in the 55-meter dash.
“Merrell's event coaches have been very impressed with his maturity and work ethic,” said
Matt Beisel, Concordia head track and field coach. “Merrell has always been serious about track but is at a completely different place than he was three years ago. We are very hopeful for his possibilities at both indoor and outdoor nationals this season.”
