Feb. 17, 2012 - The Concordia-Chicago indoor track team tuned up for the Northern Athletics Conference Championships with tonight's competition at North Central College. The Cougar women finished sixth out of seven teams.
Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, MI/H.S.) turned in another outstanding performance in the 3,000-meter run. Schmidt set a school record in the event last week with a 10:53.07 but broke it again with this week's result of 10:42.17. Schmidt is currently the conference leader in the 3,000-meters as well as the 5,000-meter and the mile.
Scoring in multiple events for the Cougar women were
Cheryl Robaczewski (Schiller Park, IL/East Leyden) with a fifth place in the 20-lb. weight throw (42' 4”) and eighth place in the shot put (33' 1 ¾”), and
Kamile Udrenaite (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) with a sixth place in the shot put (35' 1 ¾”) and seventh in the weight throw (41' 9 ¾”).
Amanda Allen (Deerfield, WI/H.S.) rounded out the women's team scoring with a strong third-place finish in the shot put. Allen recorded a 37' 11 ½” throw.
The Cougars will compete in the NAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 27. The meet will be held at the Tarble Athletic Center on the campus of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
