Feb. 17, 2012 - The Concordia-Chicago indoor track team tuned up for the Northern Athletics Conference Championships with a Feb. 17 competition at North Central College. The Cougar men placed sixth out of 11 teams in the Cardinal Classic.
Jamal Thomas (Weirsdale, FL/Lake Weir) provided 14 of the Cougar men's 27 team points with a pair of excellent performances. Thomas placed second in the long jump with a personal-best effort of 21' 9” and third in the triple jump with a 42' 3 ½” effort.
Larry Mayne (Chicago, IL/South Shore) took second place in the triple jump with a 42' 4” leap. Also scoring points for the men were
Josh Schultz (Brookfield, WI/Milwaukee Lutheran) with a fifth place in the triple jump (6' 1 ½”) and
Cory Volkman (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Lutheran) with an eighth place in the 35-lb. weight throw (43' 6”).
The Cougars will compete in the NAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 27. The meet will be held at the Tarble Athletic Center on the campus of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
